Both of our boys are graduates of Oak Creek Retrievers’ Obedience Program and let me just say, from the bottom of our hearts, this program has absolutely changed our lives for the better. A couple of years ago, we visited some close friends of ours who had recently had a baby, but we were so impressed with how obedient their Vizsla was--not only around their baby, but around us as well. Truthfully, we were obsessed with how well their dog listened and needed to know their secret (lol). The answer to their success: Chris and Karrie (and their team at OCR.) When we brought our black lab Archie home, we knew that we wanted to invest in Chris’ program. My husband reached out to Chris to let him know we were interested. As dog parents with no training experience ourselves, we never thought about the process that it takes to train a dog, but we had lots of questions. I especially was concerned about the idea of leaving my puppy for 2 months (I feared he’d forget me) and worried that my dog’s personality would change into one we didn’t recognize. Not only was Chris knowledgeable and reassuring of our concerns, but I also couldn’t have been more wrong about everything I worried about! Archie came back his same, happy-go-lucky self, and instead, we’re able to communicate with him in a way we never did before. In addition to the work that our dogs learned, it was a great learning process for us as owners too! Fast forward one year, we brought home our second dog, Bruce (a Vizsla) and we had become so used to the luxury of Archie’s obedience that we immediately wanted to see Chris again for Bruce. 6 months later, we dropped Bruce off and knew we were leaving him in the best hands. Truthfully, the second time around was just as (if not more) beneficial because we picked up on things we missed the first time around. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are to OCR for all their time, patience, and lessons that we’ve learned working with them twice now. The skills our dogs and ourselves have learned working with Chris is still constant and daily work, but it is undeniably one of our better life investments. - Alana, Brendan, Archie, and Bruce 🐾Posted on Google Ryan McCallTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I wish I could give Oak Creek Retrievers 10 stars! Chris and his team are absolutely outstanding. Their dedication and commitment to the dogs they train truly goes above and beyond. Our dog was not only trained in obedience and retrieving, but he was loved on and well taken care of while he was in their care. I would recommend Oak Creek to anyone and everyone who is looking for a top notch training facility, and cannot wait to send many more dogs to them in the future.Posted on Google Michael CrismonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great people and great trainers!Posted on Google JEA HuntsvilleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My beautiful English Springer Spaniel had become a training challenge, and it became apparent that she and I needed professional help if we were going to have any quality of life together. She was housebroken and never chewed up anything, she’d patiently lay down and let me brush the burrs out of her long hair; she was an excellent retriever at the pond; but that’s where her good manners ended. She was an incessant leash puller to the point I was sure she was harming herself and putting me at risk. Taking her to dog friendly establishments was out; she jumped up on anyone who came by because she’d get so excited; ran to the neighbor’s yard any chance she got; chased the delivery trucks down the drive and into the busy street; jumped up on windows and doors. I have chickens, ducks and geese, and well, she’s a bird dog, so you can imagine. She was hesitant to load up in her kennel whenever I took her anywhere in the truck. I’d have to physically pick her up and coax her in. Her exit was anything but graceful, and I have scratches and leash burns from our entanglements. I’d cringe when people came over and would end up locking her in a bedroom. I wanted a dog that behaved when folks came to visit, and I wanted a dog I could take anywhere. I read a bunch of books, watched a bunch of videos, subscribed to the latest training apps; tried to train her myself, to no avail. Too much, too little, do this, do that. Get this collar, no, that collar. I was experiencing information overload and needed help. In my search for a solution, I found Oak Creek Retrievers. I called them and spoke at length with Chris and Karrie. I had a hard time wrapping my head around leaving my dog for their two-month boarding/obedience class, but I was at my wits end and signed her up. Each time I’d visit her at “school” she demonstrated improvement. It became apparent that I had a lot to learn, but my dog learned too. I brought home a fully trained dog; all areas had been covered. I can administer the off-leash commands; She walks beside me unleashed; she sits in place and doesn’t accost folks who come over; she responds to “here” whenever she gets out of my line of sight. She sits calmly and observes the delivery trucks and people. She lays there and watches the parade of poultry with no attempt to chase. I can’t wait to take her to some dog friendly establishments. The OCR staff gets five stars for their professional training efforts. They discuss their methodology and respond to any questions in a very timely manner. They make sure you are commanding correctly and will work with you if your dog (and you) need a refresher. The grounds are a dog’s dream. The place is immaculate, and my dog was well cared for and bathed. I was worried she wouldn’t want to come home! But she is home, and we are living our best lives!!Posted on Google Aj FosterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely 💯 would recommend OCR!
